Symptoms include depression,fatigue,aggression,and loss of weight and appetite. Extreme consumption may lead to heart failure,coma,and death. Pregnant women are advised to avoid alcohol as it inhibits the normal growth of the fetus.
Effects on the family: Excessive alcohol consumption by a family member leads to domestic problems such as quarrels,frustration,and financial insecurity.
Effects on the society: It leads to rash behavior,malicious mischief,violence,a deteriorating social network,and loss of interest in social activities.

Effects on the individual: Drugs adversely affect the central nervous system,leading to the malfunctioning of organs like the kidneys and liver. The risk of $HIV$ and Hepatitis-$B$ infection is high due to the sharing of needles. Long-term side effects include increased aggressiveness,mood swings,and depression.
Effects on the family and society: $A$ person addicted to drugs becomes frustrated,irritated,and anti-social,causing distress to family members and creating a burden on society.
