What does the odometer of an automobile measures ? Which of the following is moving faster ? Justify your answer.
$(i)$ A scooter moving with a speed of $300\, m$ per minute.
$(ii)$ A car moving with a speed of $36 \,km$ per hour.
Odometer of an automobile measures the distance travelled by the automobile from its origin or between two stations.
$(i)$ $300 m$ per minute $=300 / 60=5 m s ^{-1}$
$(ii)$ $36 km$ per hour $=36 \times 5 / 18=10 m s ^{-1}$
$5 m s ^{-1}<10 m s ^{-1}$
$300 m$ per minute $< 36 km$ per hour.
Hence, car moves faster
Two cars moving in opposite directions cover same distance $'d'$ in one hour. If the cars were moving in north$-$south direction, what will be their displacement in one hour ?
A cyclist driving at $5\, m s ^{-1}$ picks a velocity of $10\, m s ^{-1}$ over a distance of $50\, m$. Calculate $(i)$ acceleration $(ii)$ time in which the cyclist picks up the above velocity.
A racing car has an acceleration of $4\, m s ^{-2} .$ What distance will it cover in $20$ seconds after start ?
What is meant by free fall ? Two bodies, one of mass $1\,g$ and other of mass $1\, kg$ are dropped from the same height in vacuum. Compare the two time intervals in which the two bodies will hit the ground.
A bus decreases its speed from $80\, km\, h^{-1}$ to $50 \,km h ^{-1}$ in $4\, s$. Find the acceleration of the bus.
