When aniline reacts with nitrous acid $(HNO_2)$ at $0-5 \ ^{\circ}C$ followed by coupling with $\beta$-naphthol,it forms a bright orange or red azo dye. Cyclohexylamine,being aliphatic,does not form a stable diazonium salt at low temperatures and consequently does not give the azo dye test. Therefore,the azo dye test is used to distinguish between them.
