(N/A) Sunlight contains short-wavelength infrared radiation that can easily pass through the glass windows of the car. These radiations are absorbed by the interior surfaces, such as the seats and dashboard, which then re-emit the energy as long-wavelength infrared radiation (heat). Glass is opaque to these longer-wavelength radiations, preventing them from escaping the car. This phenomenon, known as the greenhouse effect, causes the trapped heat to significantly increase the temperature inside the vehicle.
