When end of string is tied to stone and it is whirled in horizontal plane, magnitude of momentum remain same but direction of momentum is continuously changing.

To change direction of momentum force is required which is supplied by hand. To whirl stone with more speed or to rotate in circle of smaller radius more force is required. To change momentum by larger magnitude, larger force is to be applied. Due to this property Newton's second law is obtained.
