It consists of a bundle of nodal fibres,also known as the atrioventricular bundle ($AV$ bundle). This bundle continues from the atrioventricular node $(AVN)$ and passes through the atrioventricular septa. It emerges on the top of the interventricular septum and immediately divides into a right and left bundle. These branches give rise to minute fibres throughout the ventricular musculature of the respective sides,which are called Purkinje fibres. Together,these structures form the 'Bundle of His',which is essential for the rhythmic contraction of the heart.
