(C) photodiode is operated in reverse bias. When light of sufficient energy is incident on the photodiode,electron-hole pairs are generated in the depletion region. As the reverse biasing voltage increases,the electric field in the depletion region increases,which helps in sweeping the generated charge carriers across the junction more effectively. Initially,the photoelectric current increases with the increase in reverse bias voltage. However,once the voltage is sufficient to collect all the generated charge carriers,the current reaches a saturation value and does not increase further with a further increase in the biasing voltage. This is shown in the characteristic curves for different light intensities $I_1$ and $I_2$.
