(N/A) Charcoal is considered a better fuel than wood because:
$(i)$ Charcoal burns easily without producing smoke.
$(ii)$ It produces twice as much heat as the same mass of wood.
The disadvantage of converting wood into charcoal is that during the destructive distillation of $1\, kg$ of wood, only $0.25\, kg$ of charcoal is obtained. In other words, the conversion process is inefficient and costly, making charcoal an expensive fuel.
