According to the process of osmosis,water moves from a region of higher water concentration to a region of lower water concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. Since the soap solution is more concentrated (hypertonic) than the cytoplasm of your skin cells,water moves out of the finger cells into the soap solution. This loss of water causes the skin cells to shrink,resulting in the wrinkled appearance of your fingers.
