Why are rubbers called elastomers?
(N/A) Rubbers are called elastomers because they possess weak intermolecular forces of attraction between the polymer chains. These weak forces allow the polymer to be stretched. Upon applying a force,they change their shape,and upon removal of the force,they regain their original shape due to the presence of cross-links between the chains.
