However,the dust particles present in the carpet tend to resist this change and remain in their state of rest due to the inertia of rest. According to Newton's first law of motion,an object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an external force. As the carpet moves away,the dust particles remain behind due to their inertia,causing them to fall out of the carpet.
