(N/A) Biomass refers to the organic matter produced by plants and animals, such as agricultural waste, wood, cow dung, and sewage. It is a renewable source of energy.
To obtain bio-energy from biomass,it can be processed in a biogas plant. In this process, biomass (like cow dung and plant waste) is mixed with water to form a slurry and fed into a digester tank. In the absence of oxygen (anaerobic conditions),microorganisms decompose the organic matter, producing biogas (primarily methane). This gas is then collected and used as a fuel for cooking or lighting. The remaining slurry is used as high-quality manure.
