Three resistors of $5\, \Omega, 10\, \Omega$ and $15\, \Omega$ are connected in series and the combination is connected to battery of $30\, V$. Ammeter and voltmeter are connected in the circuit. Draw a circuit diagram to connect all the devices in proper correct order. What is the current flowing and potential difference across $10\, \Omega$ resistance ?

The circuit diagram is as shown

Given $\quad R _{1}=5 \Omega, R _{2}=10 \Omega, R _{3}=15 \Omega$

$V =30 V , I =?$

Since the resistors are connected in series, therefore, we hàve

$R = R _{1}+ R _{2}+ R _{3}$

$=5+10+15=30 \Omega$

Hence, $I=V / R=30 / 30=1 A$

Hence, potential across $10\, \Omega$ resistor is $V = I \times R _{2}=1 \times 10=10 V$
