(A) $CH_3MgBr$ is a Grignard reagent,which acts as a strong base. Methanol $(CH_3OH)$ contains an acidic hydrogen atom attached to the oxygen atom. When $CH_3MgBr$ reacts with $CH_3OH$,the methyl group $(CH_3^-)$ abstracts the acidic proton from the methanol to form methane $(CH_4)$ gas. The reaction is: $CH_3MgBr + CH_3OH \rightarrow CH_4 \uparrow + Mg(OCH_3)Br$.
