(C) The reaction of a ketone with a Grignard reagent $(MeMgBr)$ involves the nucleophilic attack of the methyl group $(CH_3^-)$ on the electrophilic carbonyl carbon. Since the carbonyl carbon is planar,the nucleophile can attack from either the top face or the bottom face of the carbonyl group with equal probability. This leads to the formation of two diastereomeric alcohols (or enantiomers depending on the substrate symmetry),as shown in the reaction scheme. Therefore,both products are formed.
