(B) Parathormone $(PTH)$ is a peptide hormone secreted by the parathyroid glands.Its primary function is to regulate calcium homeostasis in the blood.When the blood calcium level decreases (hypocalcemia),the parathyroid glands are stimulated to release $PTH$.$PTH$ acts on bones to stimulate the process of bone resorption (dissolution/demineralization),which releases calcium into the blood.It also increases the reabsorption of calcium by the renal tubules and increases calcium absorption from the digested food in the intestine.Thus,$PTH$ increases blood calcium levels and is secreted in response to low blood calcium levels.
