(N/A) The alimentary canal of a cockroach is divided into three regions: foregut, midgut, and hindgut.
$1$. Foregut: It includes the pharynx, oesophagus, crop (for storing food),and gizzard (for grinding food).
$2$. Midgut (Mesenteron): It is a short, narrow tube where digestion and absorption occur. At the junction of the foregut and midgut, there are $6-8$ blind tubules called hepatic caeca, which secrete digestive juices.
$3$. Hindgut: It is broader than the midgut and includes the ileum, colon, and rectum. At the junction of the midgut and hindgut, there are $100-150$ yellow-coloured,thin,filamentous Malpighian tubules, which help in the removal of excretory products from the haemolymph.
