The electrons released from the reaction center are cycled back to the reaction center through an electron transport system $(ETS)$. As electrons pass through the $ETS$,energy is released,which is used to pump protons across the membrane,creating a proton gradient that drives the synthesis of $ATP$ from $ADP$ and inorganic phosphate. Unlike non-cyclic photophosphorylation,cyclic photophosphorylation does not involve the photolysis of water (so no oxygen is released) and does not result in the reduction of $NADP^+$ to $NADPH_2$.
