In this test,the coleoptile tips of $Avena$ $sativa$ (oat) seedlings are removed,and agar blocks containing auxin are placed asymmetrically on the cut surface. The auxin diffuses into the coleoptile,causing differential growth and resulting in the curvature of the coleoptile towards the side opposite to the agar block. The degree of curvature is proportional to the concentration of auxin present.
