$(i)$ To add the numbers,make the exponents the same:
$8.56 \times 10^{6} + 1.064 \times 10^{6} = (8.56 + 1.064) \times 10^{6} = 9.624 \times 10^{6}$
$(ii)$ To subtract the numbers,make the exponents the same:
$3.33 \times 10^{-3} - 0.58 \times 10^{-3} = (3.33 - 0.58) \times 10^{-3} = 2.75 \times 10^{-3}$
